About the work
"The Couch" depicts a couple seated closely together on a sofa, captured in an intimate, nostalgic moment.
What makes this piece unique?
1. The first layer of the painting was a textured one. The second layer was thinned with water to create a cool driplike effect in the background.
2. The statue of mother Mary in the background is a statue that is in fact in our family. It also pops up in another work "Sunday Reading".
